An intricately much branched heath-like shrublet.
Grey in colour, short shoots are covered with whitish woolly clustered leaves which are minute, tufted and pressed against the stem.
In the wild there are different forms varying in colour.
Flowerheads are grouped in small clusters forming spike like inflorescence.
Pale brown bracts surround the purple disc florets and gives the spikes a golden appearance.
Fast growing, plant in full sun with well drained soil.
Should be sown in Autumn/Spring when the difference between day and night temperatures is about 12°C.
