A semi-deciduous tree growing from 10-25m tall.
Twisted and bent stem with branches often low down. Smooth bark when young, gets flaky with age.
Leaves are glossy dark green or blue green above and yellow-green below.
Flowers similar to that of Wisteria, often lilac or purple in colour.
Growth is stunted in shallow soil, and in forests the trunk is often covered in moss.
A great shade tree with light frost tolerance.
Seeds are best for propagation when soaked first.
Should be sown in Spring when the difference between day and night temperatures is about 12°C.
