The recent analysis of DNA data has led to new and unexpected results, a new classification has been developed and Euphorbia has been divided into four new subgenera/
Around 10 new species have been described and are presented in detail.
Volume 1 Deals with an introduction of the genus and with the subgenus Athymalus, by far the most diverse in southern Africa with 80 species.
Volume 2 Deals with the 3 other subgenera. Each chapter including a key to all the species with habitats line-drawings descriptions and other notes.
Several colour photographs are included for each species.
