Short, dense tufted, perennial grass
Leaves are concentrated at the base of the clump
Old leaves curl and turn a red-brown colour
Used to protect shallow soil and eroded areas
More common in high rainfall areas
Should be sown in Spring when the difference between day and night temperatures is about 12°C.
