- Approximately 25 seeds per packet
Protected tree in South Africa.
18m Tall tree
Known for its toxic milky latex that exudes from all parts of the tree.
Dark brown to black bark, thick, rough and neatly cracked into regular rectangular blocks.
Young leaves are red, often visible among the older, green leaves in spring.
The male flowers appear gold-coloured because of the pollen and the female flowers are blood red.
The fruit capsule “explodes” and can be heard on hot summer days when ripe (from October to February).
Should be sown in Spring when the difference between day and night temperatures is about 12°C .
