During the summer months when temperatures are warm. after which most seeds should have germinated.
Growth forms range from robust shrublets to ~0.8m with fat sickle-shaped leaves to wiry or mat-forming shrublets smaller than 20cm tall, with thin linear leaves.
View pink/purple flowers from the top and side stalked , the calyx is sometimes warty
Should be sown in Autumn when the difference between day and night temperatures is about 12°C.
